Did you know?  All Maine TOPS members within five pounds of their goal are invited to a KHS meeting?

There are approximately 300 KOPS in Maine and our Maine State KOPS Honor Societies

are an important tool to add to your lifetime maintenance.  Plan to attend your quarterly KHS meetings!

Joan Hanscom - 0113 Sanford, 15 Year KOPS!

I joined TOPS on January 11, 1995. My friend, Lorraine Richer, heard of TOPS and wanted me to join. I really didn’t want to join, but for weeks she kept asking me. I told her I’d already tried all those weight loss groups, but I could never keep it off for more than a few months. But, she was my best friend, so I joined.

I weighed in at 172 ľ pounds. I said I would NOT see 173 and so began my weight loss journey. My goal was 150. I could not eat anything fat free so I started cutting back and going light. I reached my goal on September 20, 1995. In those days, we had to stay in leeway for 13 weeks before we could officially become a KOPS, so I became a KOPS on December 27, 1995 at 150 pounds. I was also the runner up for the Queen of our Chapter.  I have been on track ever since.  I’ve been over my goal only a few times since and out of leeway only once in 15 years!  Thanks to my best friend, Lorraine, and all the TOPS people that kept me on my journey.  They gave me confidence and encouraged me to go on.  Thanks, TOPS, I finally feel good about myself.
