TOPS#VT109, Jacksonville, a chapter of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly )a non profit weight loss group, has discovered the latest craze of geo-caching which is alive and well in Windham County. Not only does it help a person lose weight by getting out there and exercising with a group of friends, but it is loads of fun as any Tops member will tell you. TOPSŪ is not just about losing weight; it is also about staying healthy and fit and enjoying the beautiful environment in which we live. Presently TOPSŪ members meet on Saturday afternoons and head out to an area posted on the internet which appeals to the members. It might be a local lake, a mountain trek or even an urban site. The coordinates for the site chosen are on the net and the group takes off in search of the cache. One sees areas within Vermont that one probably would never see otherwise and many that are commonly viewed, whatever, but in searching for the cache, the group is intensely covering a small area. Once found, a member sign in and might take some treasure from within the cache then leaving something behind for the next finder to discover. For many, the reward is in the thrill of the search and seeing names there from all over the USA.
